Pre-Procedure Information
Prior to Your Procedure
Preparing for your procedure is very important, approximately 2 weeks prior
to your scheduled procedure, you will recieve an envelope from CSC with
important information regarding your visit.
At your earliest convenience, please complete and return the enclosed forms using the envelope provided or by fax to (856) 874-0794.
If you have an extensive medical history, your physician may request blood work, an EKG or an anesthesia consult. Pregancy testing is performed
at CSC on the day of your procedure, if any other testing is necessary,
your physician will notify you and this should be completed at least 7 days prior to your scheduled visit.
If you are currently taking insulin, oral diabetic medications, anticoagulants such as Coumadin or Plavix, aspirin or products containing aspirin,
contact your physician immediately for instructions on taking these medications.
If you are taking diet suppressants or herbal supplements, please discontinue taking them 14 days prior to your scheduled procedure to prevent any
possible reaction with anesthesia.
If your weight exceeds 275 pounds, you will be required to come in for an anesthesia evaluation prior to your procedure.
This can be done at your convenience between the hours of 9am and 3pm, Monday through Friday.
The Day Before Your Procedure
A nurse will call you the day prior to your scheduled procedure, after 2pm. They will review your medical history, allergies,
current medications and give you specific instructions regarding your procedure and scheduled arrival time.
PLEASE ARRIVE AT THE TIME GIVEN BY OUR NURSE and disregard any time you may have been given from a physician or office staff.
In the event that an answering machine is reached, please be aware that HIPAA regulations only allow us to leave an arrival time and call back number.
We are not allowed to state your procedure or physician when leaving a message. If you will not be home after 2pm or do not have an answering
machine, please call us at (856)874-0790 ext. 115 between 2:00 and 4:30pm the day prior to your procedure so we can give you specific instructions.
If we are unable to contact you during our normal business hours, please follow the instructions given to you by your physician. Please leave a message
on our answering machine and we will return your call after 6:30am on the following business day to give your your exact arrival time.
*Please Note: If your appointment is scheduled to follow a weekend or holiday, you will receive a phone call on the last preceding
business day prior to your procedure.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS: If you are having a procedure/surgery with any type of sedation or anesthesia, you cannot have anything
to eat or drink after midnight, unless otherwise instructed by Centennial Nursing Staff.
*Patients who are scheduled for a colonoscopy, must follow instructions for the bowel preparation as given by your physician.
Any questions regarding the bowel preparation-please call your physician.
The Day of Your Procedure
Medications: Only heart and blood pressure medications should be taken as prescribed with a sip of water on the day of your procedure.
Pregnancy Testing: If you will be recieving anesthesia during your procedure, all female patients
of child bearing age will be required to have a urine pregnancy test performed after they arrive at the Center.
If you have any questions regarding this requirement, please ask to speak with a nurse.
Changes in your health: If you develop a fever, cold or flu, or any other change in your health prior to your procedure, please contact
your physician immediately.
Personal Belongings: Please leave all valuables at home or with the adult who accompanies you. Dentures and glasses will be removed just
prior to the procedure if necessary.
Clothing: Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes. Remove all jewelry, body piercing jewelry, contact lenses and metal hair accessories
prior to arrival.
Check In: Please bring your current insurance cards, photo ID and any referrals your insurance company may require with you.
Failure to do so may cause your procedure to be rescheduled for another time.
A responsible adult must take you home: You must make arrangements for a responsible adult to take you home if you have had any type of
sedation or anesthesia. You may not take public transportation home. We will reschedule your procedure for another time if suitable arrangements
cannot be made to insure your safe travel home. In addition, it is recommended that you have a responsible adult available to you for the 24 hours
after your procedure in the event that any problem should arise.
Discharge From the Center
A nurse will review discharge instructions specific to your procedure with you before you leave.
You will receive a written copy of these instructions and it is important that you review these instructions at home
to ensure a smooth and safe recovery.
On the day following your procedure a nurse will call to check on your recovery and answer any questions or concerns you may have.
